How hyperbaric oxygen therapy works.
We Increase the Pressure
Chamber pressure rises above normal sea-level pressure.
You Breathe More Oxygen
At that pressure, you breathe air with a higher oxygen concentration than a normal room.
Your Body Absorbs Even More
Together, that combination pushes extra oxygen directly into your blood plasma — reaching tissue faster than red blood cells alone.
Soft or hard? Neither is “better.”
The biggest difference between the two is pressure. Here's what that means, in plain English.
What do the pressure numbers mean?
Pressure is measured in ATA (atmospheres). 1.0 ATA is the normal air pressure you feel at sea level. Inside a chamber, the pressure rises, and the easiest way to picture it is diving underwater. Here are the settings our chambers use:
- 1.3 ATAAbout 10 ft underwaterSoft or hard chamber
- 1.6 ATAAbout 20 ft underwaterSoft chamber max
- 1.8 ATAAbout 26 ft underwaterHard chamber
- 2.0 ATAAbout 33 ft underwaterHard chamber max
Why it matters: more pressure lets your body take in more oxygen. But the right amount depends on your goals, and for many people a lower pressure is the better fit.

- How it's built
- Flexible, inflatable chamber that zips closed
- Rigid shell with a sealed door
- Pressure
- 1.3 up to 1.6 ATA
- Set to 1.3, 1.6, 1.8, or 2.0 ATA
- Inside
- Just you, lying down or sitting up
- Up to 4 people, seated, as a private room
- How it feels
- Gentle pressure change, easy on the ears
- Bigger pressure change, so more ear-clearing
- Best fit
- Everyday wellness, first-timers, a steady weekly routine
- Goals where more pressure fits, or families and teams going together
- Price
- From $125 a session
- From $250 a session
More pressure isn't automatically better.
It's easy to assume the bigger, higher-pressure chamber must work better. It doesn't work that way. For most everyday wellness goals, a soft chamber does exactly what you need. We'll always recommend the chamber that fits you, and we'll tell you when a hard chamber isn't necessary.
