Surgery puts your body through an enormous amount of stress. Even procedures that go smoothly require weeks of recovery — and during that time, your body is working overtime to rebuild tissue, manage inflammation, restore circulation, and regain strength. For many patients, that recovery window feels frustratingly slow.
At Hype Wellness Studio, we work with post-surgical clients who are looking for wellness support to complement the care they're already receiving from their medical team. Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy is one of the most thoughtful additions a person can make during recovery — and here's why.
Important note: Hype Wellness Studio is a wellness facility, not a medical clinic. Everything we offer is designed as wellness support, not medical treatment. Always consult your surgeon or physician before adding any new wellness activity to your post-surgical recovery.
What Your Body Goes Through After Surgery
Regardless of the procedure, post-surgical recovery involves several overlapping processes: inflammation at the surgical site, reduced circulation to healing tissue, increased demand for oxygen and nutrients to rebuild, and the systemic energy cost of managing it all. The body is remarkably capable — but it needs the right environment to do its best work.
Many patients find that fatigue, swelling, and the general feeling of being "off" can persist for weeks. Wellness-focused recovery support is about creating the best possible conditions for your body during this window.
How Mild HBOT Creates a Better Healing Environment
In a soft-shell chamber at 1.3–1.5 ATA, the pressurized environment allows significantly more oxygen to dissolve into your blood plasma and reach tissues that standard circulation may not efficiently supply — including areas around surgical sites that are working hard to repair.
Enhanced oxygen delivery to healing tissue: Oxygen is the primary input for cellular repair. Higher tissue oxygen availability supports the body's natural regenerative processes.
Inflammation modulation: mHBOT helps regulate the body's inflammatory response, which is especially relevant during the post-surgical period when the body's inflammation systems are active.
New blood vessel formation: Angiogenesis — the growth of new capillaries — is stimulated by hyperbaric environments, improving circulation to recovering areas.
Collagen and tissue rebuilding: Elevated oxygen supports collagen synthesis, which is central to the repair of muscle, fascia, skin, and connective tissue.
Energy and fatigue support: Post-surgical fatigue is real. Mitochondrial support from increased oxygen availability helps restore energy levels during a taxing recovery period.
When to Consider Adding mHBOT to Your Recovery
Every surgical situation is different. The timing for introducing wellness support depends on your procedure, your surgeon's guidance, and how your recovery is progressing. Generally speaking, most clients who come to us for post-surgical wellness support are several weeks out from their procedure, have been cleared for light activity by their physician, and are looking to support the final stages of healing and rebuild their energy.
We always ask clients to get physician clearance before starting sessions if they are in active post-surgical recovery. Your medical team's guidance comes first — we're here to complement it, not replace it.
What to Expect at Hype
Sessions are designed to be gentle and restorative. You'll lie comfortably inside our soft-shell chamber for 60–90 minutes. The environment is warm, quiet, and relaxing — most clients find sessions genuinely restful. There's no exertion involved, no needles, no medication. Just elevated pressure and your body doing what it does best.
Many recovery clients also find benefit in pairing mHBOT with red light therapy, which further supports tissue repair and reduces inflammation, or with infrared sauna once they're further along in recovery and cleared for heat exposure.
